SENTOSA BRIDGE

The Sentosa Causeway (Keppel-Sentosa bridge link) was constructed in 1992 at a cost of SGD117 million, the first land link between Singapore and an offshore island. We participated in this historical milestone, by applying Carboxane 2000, to promote the longevity and resistance to salt water corrosion. Carboxane 2000 is used on all Shell offshore platforms in the North Sea, one of the harshest and most inaccessible places on earth, hence, maintenance is aggressively avoided. In 2016, we inspected Sentosa Bridge, and only uncovered 0.5% corrosion after 14 years, owing not to paint performance, but damage from touch points (e.g. steel collars etc).
